Concept imagines a major overhaul of the volume flyout

While Microsoft is working on major new features for Windows 10, the company shouldn’t forget about the smaller things either, as certain parts of the operating system are using an older design which sometimes dates back to Windows XP.

The volume flyout is one of the features that users want to see improved, and although the software giant doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to roll out a makeover in this regard, the skilled designers in the Windows user community know exactly how the whole thing should work.

This new concept was posted on reddit, and it imagines a significantly refined look of the volume flyout, which includes visual effects like acrylic.

The appearance comes in line with the new light theme that Microsoft is working on for Windows 10 19H1, while the flyout overall also sports more advanced functionality that users have been requesting for way too many years already.

Per-app volume controllers

For example, the per-app volume controller would allow users to adjust the volume for each app individually and not for the entire media that’s playing on the system, as it’s the case right now in Windows 10.

Microsoft is also working on updating the volume flyout, but the design that the company is currently experimenting with is nothing like the concept here.

Most likely, the new Windows 10 volume flyout will land in the upcoming OS feature update due in the spring of 2019. Called Windows 10 19H1, the update is now in preview stage, but for the time being, there are no changes to the volume flyout.

There’s still time for Microsoft to implement more significant changes in this regard, as the Windows 10 19H1 update should be finalized in March ahead of the public rollout to devices across the world in April.
