Concept envisions an improved Microsoft Store

It’s not a secret that Microsoft’s very own Store that comes bundled with Windows 10 isn’t necessarily the most successful idea of the software giant.

And this isn’t only because users still don’t see the Store the go-to destination whenever they want an app, but also because developers themselves are yet to bring their apps here and continue to focus more on Win32.

But while so many people believe Win32 was, is, and will continue to be the right way to go on Windows, the Microsoft Store itself could still get a few improvements here and there that would help further polish the experience and provide users with the modern experience they expect in the first place.

Leaving aside the lack of apps in the Microsoft Store, which in my opinion is the number one reason why UWP apps are yet to gain traction, a visual facelift could help the app increase its adoption or, at least, give it a try.

Hello, Collections!

A concept published by Zee-Al-Eid Ahmad Rana proposes this cosmetic overhaul of the app, making “Collections” a more important feature of the Microsoft Store.

App collections are actually one way to highlight the apps that users are looking for, and by bringing them to the main page of the store and promoting them in the right way could make the Store overall more useful. For example, collections like “Customize your Windows Desktop” and “Apps for Power Users” are  likely to be particularly popular among Windows 10 users, especially because these are the apps they are very often interested in on Microsoft’s operating system.

For the time being, the future of the Microsoft Store is still uncertain, albeit I do expect a makeover to go live at some point sooner or later. When this is expected to happen, however, is something that still remains to be seen.
