Windows 10 “October 2019 Update” spotted online

Microsoft is currently struggling to make Windows 10 version 1809 (October 2018 Update) broadly available for computers across the world, and the company recently released it to the first wave of systems as an automatic download.

At the same time, the Windows team is working on finalizing the next OS feature update to launch as version 1903 and currently codenamed 19H1. Its debut is projected to happen in April for production devices.

But as it turns out, the software giant is already planning in advance, and it has recently compiled what is very likely to be the first Windows 10 version 1909, or 19H2, build.

While we’re still in the early days of this update, build 18823 was spotted online by WZor, who has a good track on Windows scoops and who recently set up a successor to BuildFeed, a service that has until recently been keeping an eye on new builds compiled by the Windows team.

Expected to launch in the fall

Details are obviously not available at this point, especially because it’s too early to discuss anything about the next-next major OS feature update.

But on the other hand, given Microsoft’s typical release schedule, we already know that it’s supposed to be finalized September and then released to users beginning with October. As it happened with all the other OS updates, the rollout will take place in stages.

Most likely, Windows 10 19H2 will launch as version 1909, which is a direct reference to the month the RTM build was signed off.

The next major milestone for Windows 10, however, is the debut of the spring update, which is supposed to happen in April. Windows 10 19H1 is already in an advanced development stage, and Microsoft is expected to finalize it in March. Preview builds can be downloaded right now as part of the Windows Insider program in the Fast ring.
