Analyst predicts the prices of Apple’s new iPhones

Apple will launch three different iPhone models later this year, and one of them is specifically supposed to be cheaper than the others, serving as the more affordable version of the premium models.

And while we do know that such a device is on its way, there are still no specifics as to how much it would cost, and all we have at this point are just guesses of people involved in the industry.

Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty says the LCD iPhone with a lower price tag could hit the shelves at $699, though she believes that there’s a chance that Apple increases the price to $769 if the company wants to improve the average selling price (ASP) by as much as 7.2 percent when combined with a starting price for the Plus-sized iPhone X of $1,099.

On the other hand, the direct iPhone X successor with a 5.8-inch OLED screen is likely to cost $899 for the base model, while the bigger Plus version could be sold from $999.

At this point, the iPhone X is available in the United States for $999 for the 64GB version and $1,049 for the 256GB configuration.

Lower-cost iPhone, not low-cost iPhone

Apple could maintain the $999 starting price for the iPhone X Plus, as it’s believed that the $1,000 milestone is the maximum price that customers would agree to pay for a smartphone. This means there’s a chance that the 2018 iPhone X becomes more affordable than the current generation by approximately $100.

On the other hand, it’s important to note that a more affordable iPhone doesn’t necessarily mean a low-cost iPhone. The model equipped with an LCD screen isn’t supposed to be an entry-level device, but a cheaper alternative to the premium iPhones, so it’s expected to be released with a price of $100 lower than the base iPhone X.

All devices are projected to launch in September, ahead of a possible sale kickoff later the same month or in early October.
