New concept imagines the next 4-inch iPhone

Apple is pretty much done with 4-inch iPhones, but by the looks of things, fans around the world aren’t ready to let this size go.

A recent concept published by ConceptsiPhone imagines what could be the iPhone SE 2, a new small iPhone whose purpose would be to mix new-generation hardware with looks and dimensions that were particularly popular a few years ago.

As you can see in the video below, this concept envisions modern features on the iPhone SE 2, including a glass back and a notch, which themselves provide a hint at other capabilities, including facial recognition and wireless charging.

The main selling point of an iPhone SE 2 would undoubtedly be its dimensions. The iPhone SE was a 4-inch iPhone particularly targeting users who previously owned the iPhone 4 or iPhone 5, and Apple used it to bring all these people to new hardware capable of running the latest OS updates.

No sign of a new iPhone SE

But despite rumors of a second-generation iPhone SE, Apple never brought it to the market, with the most reliable sources out there claiming that the company would go forward only with successors to the current models launched last September.

This year, for example, Apple will launch upgrades for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, with no improvements for the iPhone SE currently on the radar.

The concept claims that the unveiling of this new small iPhone could take place in the spring, though there’s obviously no evidence this is indeed part of Apple’s plans.

Other similar concepts that made the rounds lately envisioned small upgrades in terms of sizes as well, including a screen measuring close to 5 inches. However, thanks to Apple’s modern design which comes down to smaller bezels, the new iPhone SE could have nearly the same dimensions as the current model, but with improved screen estate.
