14 DAY TRIAL // After launching its very own triple-camera phone a few days ago, Samsung is now getting ready to go a step further and unveil its first four-camera device.
The smartphone, which could hit the shelves as Galaxy A9, will be an upgrade from the recently-launched Galaxy A7, and according to a new leak, may be powered by a Snapdragon 660 chip.
The processor is a clear indication that despite the quad-camera system, Samsung will position the device as a mid-range model.
In addition, the A9 could feature a 6.38-inch FHD+ display and run on a 3,720 mAh battery. A fingerprint sensor will continue to be offered as well, though its location isn't yet known precisely.
The camera setup will consist of four units on the back, with two different sensors for zooming (10-megapixel and 5-megapixel). Samsung may be trying to offer a higher level of optical zoom, though the exact purpose of this mix remains an enigma for everyone.

Additionally, the device will boast a 24-megapixel camera that will take most shots in auto mode, as well as an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor with a 120-degree field of view.
Basically, each sensor, either alone or combined with a second one, should offer improved capabilities in certain modes and conditions. For example, one of the cameras could feature support for the bokeh effect, allowing users to adjust the amount of blur in photos.
The Galaxy A9 will also be equipped with a 24-megapixel camera on the front specifically for selfies and video calls.
The new smartphone could see daylight as soon as the next month when Samsung will host its own developer conference in the US. Another model is expected as well, as the company could take the wraps off its first foldable smartphone. Sales, however, aren’t likely to begin earlier than the first months of 2019.
