Awesome concept imagines a completely overhauled Mac

While Microsoft has brought touchscreens to both laptops and all-in-one PCs, Apple has never been a big fan of this approach, choosing instead to stick with a more traditional design.

But even if Apple doesn’t want to mix the world of PCs with touchscreens, it doesn’t mean that its customers aren’t drooling after such a combination, especially when seeing what Microsoft’s devices can do.

A concept that was created by designer Antonio De Rosa and called Apple Mac Touch imagines what such a project would look like, though I’d say that this idea is just too similar to the one used by Microsoft for the Surface Studio.

However, the concept doesn’t just envision a touch-based iMac with an adjustable screen, like the one on the Surface Studio, but also other accessories like a keyboard that’s entirely a touchscreen as well.

Touch keyboard

Technically, with this keyboard, Apple can expand the standard capabilities by having them adapt to each running application. Needless to say, simulating the typing experience that users get when using a traditional keyboard would be quite a challenge, especially when it comes to key travel.

“Apple Touchboard is a new generation keyboard, wireless and… fretless. It has a unique touch screen that can be a touch keyboard or a secondary screen to skyrocket the experience of input for Mac. On both sides, you can find two Touch ID for your finger,” the concept creator explains.

Needless to say, there’s little chance to see this project being mass-produced by Apple, not only because the company isn’t yet interested in bringing touchscreens to laptops and PCs, but also due to the fact that it looks too much like Microsoft’s Surface Studio.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Mac evolves over the years, especially as touchscreens become such an essential feature regardless of the form factor.
