CD Projekt RED has been delaying both next-generation versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for consoles and PC a few times. Although officially they should have arrived in Q1 2022 and Q2 2022, respectively, the Polish developer announced their release has been postponed.

Back in April when it confirmed both games have been delayed, CD Projekt RED promised to provide fans with an ETA at a later date. Although today’s announcement isn’t truly a release date, it’s the next best thing we can get: a timeframe.

After making its debut seven years ago, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt gets another release later this year, CD Projekt RED confirmed earlier today. The next-generation version is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in Q4 2022.

The Complete Edition of the game, which will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will include both expansion packs (Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine), as well as all of the previously release DLCs and patches, plus a new DLC inspired by The Witcher Netflix series.

Another important thing worth mentioning is that the PC version of the game will be getting an upgrade too, which will probably be available for free.

It’s yet unclear what the upgrade process to next-generation consoles will look like, but it’s likely that those who already own the game on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will be offered the option to upgrade to the new version for free.

It also remains to be seen what will happen with those who bought the retail version The Witcher 3 for either of the previous generation console, but that will most likely be clarified by CD Projekt RED the moment it actually announces a release date for the Complete Edition.

That being said, we can’t wait for the reveal of the next entry in the Witcher saga, a game that’s already in development and uses Unreal Engine 5 as part of a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games.
