Prices are going through the roof for pretty much everything these days, and given the skyrocketing inflation and the rising costs of materials, it makes sense for Apple to consider making the iPhone more expensive as well.

The most recent report from LeaksApplePro, for example, is focused on the price of the top-of-the-range iPhone 15, which is projected to see daylight at some point in September 2023.

First and foremost, it’s believed the top device would no longer be called Pro Max, as Apple is likely to for the Ultra moniker as part of an approach inspired by the Apple Watch.

As far as the prices are concerned, it looks like the iPhone 15 Ultra could start at no less than $1,299. That’s some $200 more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, whose base version is available in the United States for $1,099. However, the report reveals that Apple is also considering a $100 price increase, which means the device could end up costing $1,199 for the base version.

Nevertheless, a price hike is all but confirmed now, and on so many levels, this makes perfect sense, especially given the reasons I highlighted earlier.

Apple, however, knows that making the iPhone more expensive without offering something in exchange is a very risky approach.

This is why the company wants to make the iPhone 15 Ultra as premium as possible, so for instance, it’s believed to be considering using titanium for the body. Titanium is not only durable but also very premium, so at the end of the day, the rising production costs could translate into an increased selling price for the consumer.

The new iPhones should see daylight in the fall of 2023, so a lot could change until then, which means we should all just take this information with a pinch of salt for now.
