Originally slated for a March 6 release, the Nintendo Switch version of The Outer Worlds has been delayed until summer. Thankfully, Switch owners won't have to wait too long, as they'll get the game as early as June.

Obsidian and Private Division have just revealed The Outer Worlds will be released for Nintendo Switch on June 5. The game will be available for purchase for $60 / €60 / £50 digitally and physically. Those who opt to go for the retail version will have to download a 6GB day one patch in addition to what's stored on the physical cartridge.

The patch is meant to optimize gameplay and adds more hi-res textures, along with other fixes that should offer a better gameplay experience to Switch players. Make sure that you have enough storage space on your console, although 6GB shouldn't be an issue even for Switch's internal memory.

With the Nintendo Switch release, The Outer Worlds will be available on all major gaming platforms. On a side note, The Outer Worlds is available for free on PC to all Xbox Game Pass members, while Xbox Game Ultimate Pass subscribers are getting the game on Xbox One as well.

We reported early this year that the Nintendo Switch port will be handled by Virtuos Games, which will closely collaborate with Obsidian whenever necessary.

The Nintendo Switch release won't be the only news about The Outer Worlds coming out this year. Obsidian confirmed that the game will receive campaign-extension downloadable content in 2020, but didn't offer any details about what it will be about or ETAs.

In any case, this is just another reason to play and finish The Outer Worlds before any additional content gets released at some point this year. And remember: it’s not the best choice, it’s Spacer’s Choice!
