Weak month for games, but great for Mario, Fire Emblem fans

We’re almost half-way through the year and most of the big triple A games have been delayed. We still have God of War Ragnarok (hopefully), but Starfield and Redout have been pushed back by several months, so they are not set for release in 2023.

That being said, June 2022 is mostly about game reveals rather than game releases. With E3 canceled again it’s once again Geoff Keighley’s task to keep us entertained this summer. This year the Summer Game Fest starts on June 9, but PlayStation and Microsoft/Bethesda have their own shows too on June 2 and June 12, respectively.

However, if you’re just interested in playing games rather than learning about new ones, here is what you can expect from June in terms of game releases. Before we deep-dive into the juicy part, it’s worth mentioning that many of the games that will appear below are in fact re-releases of older titles, so if you haven’t played them yet for whatever reason, now would be a good time to pick them up.

The first games set to be released in June are expected to come out in the first day of the month. LEAP is a brand-new Steam Early Access title, while The Big Con is scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch on June 1. A third title is expected to arrive on all platforms (PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch) on June 1, Silt.

The second batch of games to be released on June 2 include titles like Gigapocalypse (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch), Card Shark (PC, Nintendo Switch), and The Last Clockwinder, which is a VR title coming to Quest 2 and SteamVR. If you hate playing mobile games, you can still play Diablo Immortal PC starting June 2.

SpellForce 3, the popular RPG-strategy title, is coming to consoles (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S) on June 7, followed by The Cycle: Frontier, a multiplayer game set for release on PC on June 8.

Another Steam Early Access, Madshot, is scheduled for release on June 9. One of the biggest launches of the month, Mario Strikers: Battle League Football is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch on June 10. On the same day, The Quarry, a new horror game developed by Supermassive Games will release for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, followed by Metal Max Xeno: Reborn (PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch).

The next new games are only arriving after about a week. Skeleton Crew is coming to PC on June 16, alongside Redout 2 (PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch), and Starship Troopers: Terran Command (PC).

One of the biggest hits of 2020, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is coming to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on June 21, and it will be completely free. Another highly anticipated title set for release in June, Shadowrun Trilogy: Console Edition (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch) is expected to arrive on June 21.

On the same day, Wreckfest gets another release, this time on the Nintendo Switch. Retro fans will be happy to know that Sonic Origins will release for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch) on June 23, followed by Capcom Fighting Collection (PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch) on June 24.

Fire Emblem enthusiasts rejoice, as Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is coming to Nintendo Switch) in less than a month, on June 24. The last part of the month is marked by some interesting game releases too.

Disgaea 6 Complete is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on June 28, alongside DNF Duel (PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5), and Escape Academy (PC).

Finally, Cuphead - The Delicious Last Course (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch), Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak (PC, Nintendo Switch), and Outriders Worldslayer (PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S) are all scheduled for release on June 30.
