The first month of the year isn’t that rich in game releases

Many of the big games that should have been released in 2021 have been pushed to this year, which means we should get double the amount of triple A titles (and double the fun). Judging by what we have confirmed for the first three months of 2022, this year shapes up to be great for the gaming industry.

That being said, January 2022 isn’t that rich in game releases, but that’s to be expected based on previous history. Come February though, some of the most anticipated games are expected to arrive, so be ready to take a few weeks off if you want to play these on launch day.

Anyway, the first games released in 2022 will come a bit later. One of the best Monster Hunter series games is coming to PC on January 12. If you don’t have a Nintendo Switch to play Monster Hunter Rise, you’ll be able to pick this one up next week and play it on PC.

The Anacrusis, a four-player, cooperative first-person shooter set aboard a massive starship stranded at the edge of explored space, is coming to PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on January 13. Keep in mind though that this will be an Early Access titles, so it’s bound to be incomplete.

One of the biggest releases this month, God of War will be out on PC on January 14. We can’t recommend this enough, so if you haven’t yet pre-ordered Sony Santa Monica’s masterpiece, make sure to get it on release day.

Blackwind, a top-down sci-fi action-adventure game with platforming elements is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on January 20.

Two other games are expected to launch on the same day: WARNO (Steam Early Access) and Windjammers 2, which will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia.

Four days later, on January 24, Hidden Deep will enter Steam Early Access. This atmospheric sci-fi action game is heavily inspired by iconic movies like Aliens and The Thing, as well as the Half-Life game.

Another interesting indie title releasing as a Steam Early Access title is Diplomacy is Not an Option. If you haven’t guessed yet, the game mixes strategy, city building and tower defense elements to offer players a challenging sandbox experience. Diplomacy is Not an Option is set to arrive on January 26.

Kingdom of the Dead is a hand-drawn first-person shooter game with survival horror elements. This one is set for release for PC on January 26.

The last days of January is a bit more crowded in anticipation for February, which is likely to be the most important month for gamers. The PlayStation 4 version of Circuit Superstars has been scheduled for release on January 27, so make sure to pick this one up if you’re a racing games fan.

Then, we have Game Freak’s action RPG Pokemon Legends Arceus coming to Nintendo Switch on January 28, and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection releasing on PlayStation 5 on the same day.

Last but not least, Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Extraction is another title expected to drop this month, but a firm release date hasn’t been unveiled yet. However, we do know it will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia.

If you’re not yet certain that you have time to play any of the games releasing this month, you might want to save the money for February when a bucketload of triple A titles are expected to arrive, including Elden Ring, Dying Light 2, and Horizon Forbidden West.
