Although December is not a particularly good month for new game releases, we’re living in strange times, so anything is possible. Besides keeping a steady amount of game releases, December has a some very nice surprises for those playing shooter, racing, RPG, or strategy games.

If you’re looking for the first games to arrive in December, you don’t have to wait long at all. The first titles scheduled to arrive next month drop on the first day. One of the biggest game releases of the month, The Callisto Protocol arrives on PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on December 2. In fact, the second day of the month is also the most important as games like Need for Speed Unbound (PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S) and Marvel's Midnight Suns (PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S) all are coming out on December 2.

A fourth game is scheduled to drop on the same day, SubROV: Underwater Discoveries, but this is a Steam Early Access title. Another racing game set to be released this month, Swordship arrives on PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on December 5.

Some smaller, yet interesting new games should be out on December 8, including NecroBouncer (PC), The Rumble Fish 2 (PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch), and Chained Echoes (PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch).
