Developer Daedalic Entertainment and publisher NACON have just revealed that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is no longer on track for a release on September 1, as previously announced. It looks like building an action-stealth game is much harder than designing point & click adventure titles, something that Daedalic is famous for.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has been in development for several years, but it seems that the studio needs a bit more time to get the project to the finish line. In a statement released this week, Daedalic Entertainment it’s been “working hard to share our own vision of a remarkable story, set in a breathtaking world, filled with magic and wonder.”

Because it wants to meet the community's high expectations regarding the untold story of Gollum in a way that honors the vision of J.R.R. Tolkien, Daedalic took the difficult decision to delay the game for an undisclosed amount of time.

That being said, in order to deliver the best possible experience, developer in cooperation with publisher have decided to push the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum by a few months. We'll update with an exact timing in the near future.”

Nothing else has been changed in regards with the platforms, so The Lord of the Ring: Gollum will still be released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.

Until we get more information about the game’s release date, check out the first and only gameplay trailer of the game, which was launched early this month. Also, if you haven’t been in the loop with the new Gollum game, you should know that the title focuses on stealth rather than combat. We also know that it will feature an original story within the confines of Tolkien’s universe.
