Ubisoft announced today that The Division franchise has reached over 40 million unique players. Also, the release of the Warlords of New York expansion one year ago saw the highest monthly active users for The Division 2.

That being said, if you're still playing The Divison 2 or plan to pick up the game in the coming months, here is what you should expect from Ubisoft. The French developer announced plans to deliver new, meaningful content for The Division 2 in late 2021 at the earliest.

As announced a few weeks back, we have begun work on new content for The Division 2. The development of this content will be led by a group of project veterans at Ubisoft Massive. This will see Adrian Trasca and Yannick Banchereau staying at the helm of the project as producer and associate creative director. We are also excited to announce that the new content will be made with the support of a talented group of developers at Ubisoft Bucharest.”

Not much is known about The Division 2's next major update, although Ubisoft confirmed it will include a game mode that's entirely new to the franchise. Also, the developers said they are trying to find new ways to progress characters with an emphasis on increasing build variety and viability.

As mentioned earlier, Ubisoft has just started working on the next major update for The Division 2, so it will take many months until it's complete. Not to mention that we're still in the middle of a pandemic, so development cycles now tend to take a bit longer than usual.

Until the next important update drops, Ubisoft will re-run previous seasons released during Year 2, so the next season (Season 5) will be a re-run of Season 1, giving players the chance to collect rewards and collectibles that they might have missed out on.

In addition to re-runs, Ubisoft will continue to support the game with new Apparel Events and some minor Title Updates focused on quality-of-life improvements.
