unitQ research reveals the common app issues

If you’ve recently installed a new mobile app on your Android device or iPhone and ended up struggling with its performance, you’re certainly not alone.

The slow performance of the mobile app is the most common problem that Android and iPhone users complain about, according to research conducted by unitQ, followed by the app force closing, broken download or install, and buggy launch.

“Many product quality issues are the same across a wide swath of industries. App crashes and latency and failure to load are complaints from users of virtually every application. However, some industries have unique product quality issues. For example, users of online dating apps complain that they have been wrongly blocked or suspended from the application. A complaint unique to music applications is that a song won’t play or the wrong song plays. When it comes to game applications, players voice concerns that they are not able to reach higher levels,” the research reveals.

Android scores better than iPhone

unitQ claims the Android score, based on the reviews posted by users in the store, is 78, while iOS does much worse with a score of just 61 points.

However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the apps built to run on the iPhone are substantially worse than their Android siblings. Not at all, as the difference could also come from more people complaining about the apps or being rather exigent about them.

“There were 3.18 million product quality issues on iOS and 14.04 million on Android. Because Android is a larger platform, roughly 82% of the product quality issues were detected on that platform,” the research company explains.

So overall, the quality of the apps still leaves a lot of room for improvements, no matter the mobile platform. At first glance, things are more or less better in the Android world, but on the other hand, there’s no guarantee everything will also work flawlessly no matter the platform you are using.
