14 DAY TRIAL // AV-TEST has conducted new research to determine the best antivirus solution for Windows 10 home users, and this time there are three different solutions that managed to get the top rating.
Specifically, only Bitdefender Internet Security, Kaspersky Internet Security, and Symantec Norton Security received the maximum of 18 points, after scoring nearly flawlessly in protection, performance, and usability tests. The trio score 6 out of 6 points in all three categories.
But at the same time, there are also several security products that got very close to the top rating, obtaining a final score of 17.5 points. These include Avast Free Antivirus, McAfee Internet Security, Trend Micro Internet Security, and Microsoft’s Windows Defender.

Offered pre-installed on all Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 devices, Microsoft’s Windows Defender has remained a top security product, offering nearly the same protection as the leading third-party solutions.
In this new round of tests, Windows Defender obtained 17.5 points, after scoring 5.5 points for protection, 6 points for performance, and 6 points for usability.
Without a doubt, Windows Defender offering state-of-the-art protection to Windows 10 users is very important for Microsoft moving forward, especially as this security application has evolved to become a fully-featured security suite in the operating system. Right now, Windows Defender is part of a central security hub called Windows Security, which also includes other features like parental controls and firewall rules.
In this latest round of antivirus tests, the product that got the lowest score is Protected.net Total AV, which received only 13.5 points. According to the official results, it scored only 2.5 points for the protection it offered during the malware tests, 5 points for performance, and 6 points for stability. Next in charts is PC Matic with 14 points, after scoring just 4 points for protection.
