Apple has been bragging for quite some time that more and more Android users are making the switch to Android, but as the company itself acknowledged recently, there are actually lots of people going the other way around and eventually embracing Google’s operating system.

But Apple still wants to be prepared for anyone interested in getting an iPhone, so the Move to iOS app is being refreshed again, this time as part of the iOS 15 operating system update due in the fall.

If you’ve used Move to iOS before, you probably know this solution was developed from the very beginning to make it easier to transfer certain content from an Android device to a new iPhone.

Launched no less than six years ago as part of the release of iOS 9, the Move to iOS tool originally came with support for transferring photos and videos, as well as email accounts and songs.

iOS 15 coming in September

But Apple wants to make the transition from Android to iPhone as straightforward as possible, so the release of iOS 15 will update this tool with new capabilities, including support for files and folders. And what’s more, the Move to iOS feature will support transferring photo albums and accessibility settings.

iOS 15 is quite a massive release for iPhone users, as it includes not new features but also additional polishing like the one we’re highlighting today, all with the purpose of making the operating system as a whole more feature rich, more stable and more secure.

A preview of iOS 15 is already available for download today for registered developers, with Apple planning to roll out the stable version in September, according to its typical release calendar.

The good news is the update will support the same iPhone models as iOS 14, so it will be available on the iPhone 6s and newer, though some capabilities might be missing on older models.
