The coronavirus outbreak is keeping people from all over the world home in an attempt to avoid the infection, and needless to say, most authorities have already closed schools to protect students.

In Japan, schools remaining closed during this time of the year means many students would actually miss their graduation ceremonies, something that many of them have anticipated for so long.

But because they have no other option than to stay inside, a bunch of elementary school graduates came with the innovative idea of celebrating their graduation using a digital party created in the Microsoft-owned game Minecraft.

As SoraNews24 reports, lots of elementary students gathered to celebrate the graduation in a virtual version of their schools, all without any teachers or faculty staff being involved.

Minecraft delays

Meanwhile, Microsoft itself is one of the companies hit by the coronavirus outbreak, so the firm recently decided to delay the Minecraft Festival. Originally projected to take place in September, the Minecraft Festival is now postponed to a later date, with additional details likely to go live after the COVID-19 saga comes to an end.

“In recent weeks, the COVID-19 outbreak has led many organizers to cancel or postpone gatherings and events across the world, as a preventive measure to ensure the health and safety of their guests. The situation around Minecraft Festival, however, is a little different. September is still many months away, and we are not making any predictions about how long it will take to put the outbreak behind us. This decision is rather a result of the extensive preparations required to organize a mammoth event like this,” Microsoft explained.

On the other hand, Microsoft says the Minecraft Live is still happening, albeit for the time being, there are no other specifics to be shared.
