Survey shows Macs are the preferred purchase

While Windows is currently the number one desktop operating system, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s also the one that everyone wants to use.

A survey conducted by Apple device management company Jamf reveals that a surprisingly big number of college students would actually use Macs “if cost were not a consideration.”

In other words, some use Windows because PCs running it are cheaper, and this is exactly why Apple should go for these buyers with a more affordable Mac.

Going back to the survey, data published by MacRumors reveals that 71% of the students prefer a Mac over a PC. What’s more, while 60 percent of the respondents said they use a PC, 51% of them claimed they would switch to a Mac in a minute.

Expensive Windows computers

As for the reasons so many students love the Mac, 64% of the participants in the survey claim they like the brand, and this is without a doubt no surprise. Apple has a high consumer appeal in this age range, and products like iPhones have long been the preferred purchase for teens and students.

60% of the students pointed to the style and design of the Mac as the reasons they’d buy one, followed by ease of use, reliability, syncing with other devices, and durability.

When it comes to PCs, 51% of the users said they purchased one because of the price, as a Windows computer is typically a lot more affordable that a Mac.

67% of the users said they’d choose to work for a company that lets them choose between a Mac and a PC.

"Employers are looking for top talent in a competitive job market. Providing workers with the tools they know and love is a key way to attract, retain and empower them to be their most productive," said Dean Hager, CEO, Jamf.
