The release of the Windows 11 Moment 2 update witnesses a new improvement coming to the Start menu.

As most users know already, the debut of Windows 11 brought us a major Start menu makeover. Now centered alongside the rest of the taskbar icons, the Start menu no longer uses the live tiles that were available in Windows 10, but a more static design borrowed from Windows 10X.

Since the first version of Windows 11 rolled out, the Start menu has been constantly getting further refinements. And the Moment 2 update continues this trend with goodies aimed at business users.

Devices running Windows 11 Pro will start displaying recommendations and suggestions regarding files and other content in the Start menu.

AI for the win

Microsoft says the whole experience is powered by AI, and the purpose is to make it easier for users to find the content they need in a more convenient and straightforward way.

“For those of you who use Windows in a business setting, we are helping you get to what you need more quickly and easily—whether that be a file you need in an instant, or your cloud PC so you can work the way you want,” Microsoft says.

“Available on Windows 11 Pro devices and higher that are Azure Active Directory (AAD) joined, we are personalizing your experience by delivering AI-powered recommended content within your Start menu. Simply click to open the Start menu and find related content to help you prepare for upcoming meetings, quickly access files you’re collaborating on, and more.”

Moment 2 is now available for users who manually check for updates in Windows 11, but in business environments, the rollout is controlled by system administrators.
