It’s difficult to say if Star Wars Battlefront was a success for Electronic Arts, but that just might be the case if we believe what the analysts are saying.

Anything with the name Star Wars on it sells well, or at least, this was the belief in the George Lucas era. Now that the franchise has changed hands from George Lucas to Disney, there are different expectations and Star Wars Battlefront is the first game from Electronic Arts after they acquired the rights.

The Beta testing went very well for Star Wars Battlefront and it looks like it’s going to be one of the best-selling games ever to be released by Electronic Arts, but we still don’t have any kind of official numbers. The publisher was real chatty before the launch and said that the Beta was really impressive, with more than 9 million players. They weren’t so chatty after the launch.

Analysts say that Star Wars Battlefront did well

Since there are no official numbers out there, it’s difficult to say if the game did well. On the other hand, this is why we have analysts like Michael Pachter from Wedbush Securities.

According to a report on Fortune.com, Patcher says that Star Wars Battlefront sold about six million units in November and about the same amount in December. This would make 12 million units, which is actually pretty good. Also, most likely, the DLCs for the game are not considered.

Before the launch of the game, Electronic Arts also said that it expects for Star Wars Battlefront to ship around 13 million units until March 31. Why this particular date? This is the end of the fiscal year in the United States, and it’s also the date that will reveal the actual numbers.

Star Wars Battlefront is just the first title in a long series, and gamers should expect lots of other titles in the newly started Star Wars franchise.
