Unlike Microsoft, PlayStation and EA, Square Enix has been silent when it comes to new game releases. Although the Japanese publisher briefly appeared with Project Athia during PlayStation's Future of Gaming event, nothing else was shown.

Outriders was officially revealed last year at E3, but since it's supposed to be released in 2020, Square Enix decided to raise the hype by unveiling more information about their upcoming triple-A title.

If you didn't know, Outriders is a co-op sci-fi RPG shooter developed by Polish studio People Can Fly, the same company behind games like Bulletstorm, Sleeping Dogs, and Just Cause. Aside from gameplay footage, a lot of info was dropped about Outriders this week.

Apparently, Outriders is a massive project not just in terms of hours of gameplay, but also how far players travel in the course of the game's dark sci-fi story. The game is set on a planet called Enoch, a savage world where everything has been hyper evolved to wipe Humanity from the face of the planet.

Apart from releasing new details and gameplay footage, Square Enix announced that Emmy Award Winner Inon Zur is the musical talent behind the original soundtrack of Outriders.

We were really excited to have Inon on board to do the soundtrack for the game. He’s a legend in the industry and the team were big fans of his work already. He worked closely with us to develop a sound that fit with the story and world that we’re creating, and he composed truly dynamic and powerful tracks for us that added so much depth to the tone and feel of the game,” said Bartek Kmita, Creative Director of Outriders at People Can Fly.

Although Outriders doesn't have an exact release date yet, Square Enix announced the game will launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC in Holiday 2020.
