The glitch is currently under investigation, it says

Spotify has started an investigation of a bug that’s causing the Android client to fail to load, as it gets stuck on the splashing screen that users see after launching the app.

As per PiunikaWeb, several users have reported the problem all over the web, including on Spotify’s forums.

The bug comes down to the same behavior: users can no longer load the Spotify app, as the Android client only shows the Spotify logo, after which it freezes without letting users start the playback or browse the library.

At this point, it’s not yet clear what’s causing the problem, but in some cases, the whole thing showed up after changing the storage location or after signing out of the app.                                                                                                    “I tried changing my download storage from internal to the SD card. But then Spotify restarted and only stayed on a black loading screen with the logo. I tried restarting my phone, reinstalling the app (with and without the SD card inserted in my phone), downloading an older version and doing a clean install but nothing worked. Every time I try to open the app, I just get a black screen with the logo and nothing happens until my phone turns off. Spotify still works on my PC and my phone has enough storage,” one user explains.

Investigation currently underway

While a fix does not exist at this point, Spotify says it’s looking into all these reports, explaining that the glitch only appears to be impacting the Android app exclusively. In other words, if you’re running Spotify on iPhone, everything should be working just fine, with no issue whatsoever.

“We’re receiving reports from Android users who say that when launched, the app gets stuck on the Spotify logo, refusing to load any further. This is being investigated,” the company said.
