14 DAY TRIAL // Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants is getting another game that promises an adventure of cosmic proportion. During THQ Nordic’s 10th anniversary digital showcase, the publisher revealed SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, the next installment in the beloved 3D platformer series.
This time around, SpongeBob and Patrick will be traveling to seven distinct worlds like Wild West Jelly fish Fields and Halloween Rock Bottom. Many of the iconic characters from the classic Nickelodeon show such as Mrs. Puff and Flying Dutchman are making a comeback.
In SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, SpongeBob and Patrick meet a mysterious fortune teller who is kind enough to grant them many wishes. Unfortunately, the two buddies open up portals by mistake to so-called Wishworlds, which wouldn’t sound so bad if their friends wouldn’t get lost in them.
“Everything is possible in the infinite expanses of the cosmos ... there might even be a reality where mayonnaise isn't an instrument! When the mysterious fortune teller Kassandra grants SpongeBob and Patrick wishes, the two buddies unintentionally open up portals to strange Wishworlds... it's all F.U.N. and games until their friends get lost in the portals.”
As players progress, they will unlock classic and new platforming skills such as Karate Kick and Fishhook Swing, as well as experience all the buddy movie banter with SpongeBob’s companion, Patrick.
All the Bikini Bottomites from the series are voiced by their original actors and it in-game soundtrack features no less than 101 songs from the series, including Sweet Victory.
SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake will be available for PC via Steam, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 owners will also be able to play the game via backwards compatibility.
THQ Nordic didn’t announce a release date for the game yet, but SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake might not arrive this year.
