From the developers of Hard Reset and Shadow Warrior

The folks at Flying Wild Hog, the studio known for games like Hard Reset and Shadow Warrior, have just announced their new upcoming game: Space Punks. The new indie title is a mixture of multiple genres and draws inspiration from AAA games like Borderlands, Diablo, and Path of Exile.

Graphics-wise, Space Punks feels like a blatant Borderlands ripoff. One of the characters is even named The Handsome One in the trailer, and he's made to look like Handsome Jack from Borderlands. Another character strongly resembles Kerrigan from the Starcraft series, but that's for each and everyone to judge.

The main difference is that Space Punks plays from an isometric perspective since it's a top-down shooter. However, just like Borderlands, this is a looter shooter, so there seems to be a lot of gear-dropping throughout the game as seen in the trailer.

A top-down looter shooter, Space Punks features crazy, over-the-top action in a unique, irreverent sci-fi setting. Players are given the chance to blast their way to fame, glory and wealth by taking on lucrative contracts on far-flung planets against impossible odds.”

Aside from the trailer released today, Flying Wild Hog also announced that Space Punks will be released on Steam Early Access for PC on July 14. Also, an open beta is planned for winter 2021 and a console release in 2022.

According to developers, “Space Punks features crazy, over-the-top action in a unique, irreverent sci-fi setting.” More importantly, this is a 4-player cooperative game, so each character will have their own abilities and playstyle. And that's all we know about Space Punks at the moment.

Unfortunately, Space Punks hasn't been listed on Steam yet, so it can't be added to wishlists, but we're still nearly two weeks away from the game's release, so there's plenty of time for that.
