Get your PC beta key and play the game via Epic Games Store

Great news for soulslike fans, as developer Cold Symmetry announced over the weekend that due to overwhelming demand, their upcoming triple-A title, Mortal Shell is going open beta. The game was in closed beta for a few days last week, but it looks like there was such a high demand for keys that developers have decided to make it open to everyone.

Although it's a triple-A game, Mortal Shell is created by a small indie-team of development veterans who worked on Call of Duty and Ghost of Tsushima. The demo covers the outskirts of Fallgrim and the Abandoned Chamber, as well as a pretty comprehensive tutorial that teaches players the basic moves and let them experiment with the more complex ones.

We heard that a lot of you were feeling left out and frustrated with how we were handling key distribution. We have tried our best to keep up with requests, but we never expected this level of high demand. So we have decided to open the PC beta early, and it's available right now,” said developer Cold Symmetry.

We don't know for how long the beta will remain open, but anyone is allowed to jump in and try it out starting today. It's important to mention that the beta is only available on PC (sorry console players). Equally important is the fact that you can only play the game if you have an Epic Games Store account since Mortal Shell is exclusive to this platform for about a year.

Mortal Shell, the action-RPG souls-like by Cold Symmetry doesn't have a release date yet, but we do know it will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One later this summer, so perhaps in about a month from now.

But that's not the only good thing about Mortal Shell! The developers announced that the game will be available for purchase for just $30 / €30, almost half the price of a triple-A title, so kudos to Cold Symmetry for that.
