Sony has decided to bury its Xperia Z family for good after so many years and thought that now would be a good time to rebrand some of its smartphone series to try and offer itself a fresh start.

The old Xperia Z family will be replaced by a new one that was announced not long ago, Xperia X. No less than four new Xperia X smartphones will be launched on the market in the coming months, but for now, none has gone on pre-order.

If you haven’t been in the loop with the latest information about Sony’s new Xperia X family, you will be pleased to know that the Japanese company has just released a new video advert that explains some of the strongest features of Xperia X Performance and Xperia X.

Some of you might already know that both Sony Xperia X Performance and Xperia X smartphones come with impressive 23-megapixel photo snappers on the back side. Naturally, they will feature Sony sensor cameras and 4K video recording, but other advanced features will be available too.

Some advanced photography features will be included in both smartphones

One of these features is mentioned in the video as Predictive Hybrid Autofocus, which is supposed to keep users “always one step ahead.” We’re thinking this is some kind of new capturing technology that will allow for more accurate and faster autofocus.

The so-called Predictive Hybrid Autofocus should be especially useful when capturing a video that focuses on a single object or a person. Sony also promises that the use of this new feature will reduce blur thanks a sophisticated algorithm embedded into the camera’s software.

While we don’t know when exactly the Xperia X Performance and Xperia X will go on sale, we have learned that Sony plans to kick off pre-orders for its Xperia X family in the next couple of weeks.

Of the two, the Xperia X Performance will be more expensive since it comes with a Snapdragon 820 CPU inside whereas the Xperia X is powered by a Snapdragon 650 chipset.
