Three new fighting and soulslike games added to the service

Sony will be restructuring its premium PlayStation Plus service to provide fans of its gaming platform with an alternative to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass. Although many see the upcoming subscription service as a thing of its not instead of an Xbox Game Pass competitor, there have been many voices claiming they would have expected a much more appealing outcome from the restructure.

That being said, there’s been a lot of controversy (and confusion) surrounding one particular PlayStation Plus tier that allowed owners of PS Now and PS Plus subscriptions to be automatically moved to the most expensive tier of the new service without paying any extra. Pricewise, the move was in their favor, which lead to many customers stacking prepaid subscriptions to PlayStation now, hoping the $60 per-year service would convert to the upcoming $120 per-year PlayStation Plus Premium.

Last week, Sony put an end to the loophole and stopped allowing customers to redeem prepaid PlayStation Now vouchers. Only those who aren’t already subscribed can redeem a one, three, or 12-month prepaid card.

Anyway, if you’re in either of these two categories, a long-time or soon-to-become PlayStation Now subscriber, you’ll want to know that Sony has just revealed the new titles that will be joining the service in May.

Starting today, PlayStation Now subscribers will have access to three new games: Soulcalibur VI, Blasphemous, and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4. These will be the last games joining PlayStation Now before the merger with PlayStation Plus in June.

When the new PlayStation Plus launches, PlayStation Now memberships will roll into PlayStation Plus Premium, so subscribers will continue to have access to PlayStation Now including download and streaming access to a large library of new and classic games.

According to Sony, the new offering for PlayStation Plus will launch a little earlier in select markets in Asia, followed by Japan. Starting on May 23, the premium service will be available in Asia markets, while Japanese customers will get the service’s benefits beginning June 1. The new PlayStation Plus will arrive in the Americas on June 13 and in Europe on June 22.
