As expected, Sony revealed the prices and release date for its upcoming PlayStation 5 console, and it's hardly any surprise. Just like Microsoft's Xbox Series X/S, the PlayStation 5 will be launched on the market in November and will cost the same.

However, the PlayStation 5 has two release dates, one for seven markets and another one for the rest of the world. That being said, the PlayStation 5 will launch in the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea on November 12, while the rest of the world will get it one week later, on November 19.

As far as the price goes, the regular PlayStation 5 model will be available for purchase for $500/$630 CAD/€500/£450, while the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition will be available for a recommended retail price of $400/$500 CAD/€400/£360. Pre-orders start today at select retailers, so you might want to check with your local retailer.

The only difference between the two models is the lack of the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive, hence the “Digital Edition” name. Performance-wise, both PlayStation 5 models are the same, so it's really up to each and everyone to decide whichever model serves them best, the price difference is just $100/€100.

Along with the two PlayStation 5 consoles, Sony will launch a slew of accessories such as a DualSense wireless controller ($70 / €70), PULSE 3D wireless headset with 3D audio support and dual noise-canceling microphones ($100 / €100), HD camera with dual 1080p lenses ($60 / €60), Media Remote ($30 / €30), and DualSense charging station to charge two DualSense wireless controllers ($30 / €30).

Last but not least, Sony announced that those who own a PlayStation 5 and subscribe to PS Plus will be able to download and play a curated library of PS4 games for free regardless of whether or not they own these games. This curated library includes titles like Batman Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, Fallout 4, God of War, Monster Hunter: World, Persona 5, and many more. The initiative is called PS Plus Collection and will be an added benefit to the existing PS4 benefits that PS Plus subscribers receive for a single subscription price.
