Samsung unveiled today the Galaxy Fold smartphone during the Samsung Galaxy UNPACKED 2019 event that currently takes place in San Francisco, United States.

Galaxy Fold is a groundbreaking devices that writes a new chapter in mobile innovation by introducing the world’s first Dynamic AMOLED Infinity Flex Display that folds into a compact smartphone by using a cover display. It's not only a smartphone, but a universal device that can be a tablet, offering users a new mobile experience that cannot be compared with anything else on the already overcrowded mobile market.

Galaxy Fold introduces a completely new category that unlocks new capabilities never seen before with our Infinity Flex Display," said DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. "We created Galaxy Fold for those that want to experience what a premium foldable device can do, beyond the limitations of a traditional smartphone."

The new mobile experience offered by the Galaxy Fold smartphone will change the way you use your mobile devices. It automatically changes to the screen you need when you need it, lets you send texts or make calls with one hand, and puts higher quality entertainment at your fingerprints so you can enjoy your favorite movies, TV shows, digital magazines, presentations, and even AR (Augmented Reality) content in a way that you've never experienced before.

Technicals specifications of Galaxy Fold

Powered by a 7nm 64-bit Octa-core processor and 12GB LPDDR4x RAM, Galaxy Fold Main features a 7.3-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED Flex display (4.2:3) combined with a 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED cover display (21:9). It comes with a rear triple camera system consisting of a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera, a 12MP f/1.5 / f/2.4 wide-angle camera with dual pixel autofocus and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), as well as a 12MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with PDAF, OIS, and 2X optical zoom.

On the front, there's a dual camera system consisting of a 10MP f/2.2 selfie camera and an 8MP f/1.9 RGB depth camera. There's also a 10MP f/2.2 selfie cover camera on the cover display. Galaxy Fold features a huge 4,380mAh battery with Fast Charging capabilities, as well as wireless charging with WPC and PMA support and wired charging with QC2.0 and AFC support. The device is powered by the latest Android 9.0 Pie mobile operating system and features Samsung DeX, Samsung Knox, Samsung Health, and Samsung Pay.

Galaxy Fold will be available for sale in the United States from AT&T and T-Mobile in Q2 2019 at a starting price of $1,980.00 USD. Worldwide availability is yet to be announced by Samsung in the comings weeks.
