Samurai Warriors 5 has been confirmed to arrive on PC and consoles on July 27, which means there's plenty of time to learn about all the new stuff the game will supposedly bring. Today, KOEI TECMO and developer Omega Force revealed Samurai Warriors 5 will be the first in the series to include Ultimate Skills.

But first, let's see when and where the game takes place. For those who haven't yet read anything about Samurai Warriors 5, it's important to mention that the game takes place inside the Sengoku period, during which an inverted social order extends across Japan.

Samurai Warriors 5 starts with Nobunaga, along with his childhood friend Toshiie Maeda, as they make a raid on the Imagawa Army to rescue Ieyasu from his captors. These are popular figures from Japanese history, but it's totally fine if you haven't heard about any of them.

Anyway, the new ability announced today, Ultimate Skills will be very useful in raids. These are incredibly powerful actions that can be used during battle, with players able to equip up to four types of Ultimate Skills at any one time.

Among the Ultimate Skill types that players will be able to take advantage of while fighting hordes of enemies, there's the Avalanche, which enables players to thrust their Great Spear into the earth to create a Shockwave that stuns nearby enemies. Another one would be Recuperation, where players can either increase their attack power or defense or recharge their Musou Gauge.

Relentless Storm is an Ultimate Skill that allows players to throw enemies into the air, beat them to a pulp, then bring them down to the ground with a strike from their Great Spear. Last but not least, we have Pulse, an Ultimate Skill designed for continuing combos, enabling players to connect Pulse Ultimate Skills and Musou attacks.

On top of that, developer Omega Force announced that Hyper Attacks return to the battlefield, enabling characters to travel great distances while assaulting enemies. As the Hyper Attack allows players to round up combatants and can be connected to a standard attack, it acts as the perfect starting point for any battle.
