No word on they could be released to users though

Samsung is planning to significantly improve the feature lineup of the Galaxy S10 series with refinements that would enhance existing capabilities, including fast charging and the camera.

Mobile leakster Ice Universe, who has a mixed track of scoops on smartphones, claims “the president of Samsung Greater China said that it is considering opening the Galaxy S10’s charging power to 25W and developing the handheld super night mode to the S10 series.”

First and foremost, let’s see what the fast charging update means for the Samsung Galaxy S10.

Samsung has always been one of the companies that bet big on fast charging, and just like its predecessors, the Galaxy S10 comes with a similar system limited at 15W. By the looks of things, the improvements that rivals made in this regard convinced Samsung it’s the time to unleash the full capabilities of its fast charging tech, so the company would push it to 25W with a firmware update.

Technically, this is possible with software optimizations, as other models in Samsung’s lineup, like the Galaxy A30 and A50, already come with 25W fast charging.

Night Sight alternative

As for the improved camera, it all comes down to capabilities of shooting better pictures in the dark.

Google had set a new standard last year when it launched the Pixel 3 with a Night Sight mode, which allows the device to “see” in complete darkness, and now Samsung wants to invest in similar capabilities as well.

The Galaxy S10 already comes with a feature called Bright Night, but it’s part of the Scene Optimizer package that’s bundled into the camera and still doesn’t offer the same performance as Google’s own system. So a future firmware update could address this by implementing a truly-advanced night mode that would match the performance of Google’s, technically giving the Galaxy S10 another boost in the fight for the best camera phone in low-light conditions.

At this point, there are no details as to when these firmware updates could be released to users, but let’s just hope the report is accurate and Samsung is indeed working on such improvements. If it does, they should go live by the time the Note 10 launches in the summer.
