Galaxy S24 expected to come with the Exynos 2400

Samsung is planning big changes in terms of hardware on the Galaxy S23 series, and one of them is the availability of the Snapdragon-powered version.

The Galaxy S23 models fitted with a Qualcomm chip would no longer be exclusive to South Korea and the United States, as Samsung plans to bring this model to the entire world.

And according to a report, the Exynos chip has now been relegated to a second-class citizen status in the Samsung lineup, with the chip to be used on mid-range devices.

On the other hand, going all-in on the Qualcomm chip isn’t something that Samsung wants to do in the long term, so the company is already working on its very own alternative that would offer substantially improved performance.

As it turns out, the transition back to Exynos chip in the Galaxy S lineup will start in 2024 when the company will take the wraps off the Galaxy S24. At that point, the South Korean versions of the device will be fitted with a new Exynos 2400 processor that will be similar to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 quad-cluster design that Samsung will use this year on the Galaxy S23.

In other words, Samsung is looking into its neighbor’s yard to improve Exynos, and in 2024, the company hopes to match the performance of its rival.

The plan is, perhaps, to gradually bring the Exynos back to all markets if the South Korean experiment proves successful. As a result, if the new S24 chip performs well enough to make the Snapdragon irrelevant, then Samsung could equip its flagships with the Exynos chip all over the world and not just in its home market.

Of course, everything is still in the rumor stage at this point, so take everything with a healthy pinch of salt.
