Now that Apple has finally unveiled its 2018 iPhone generation, it’s Samsung’s turn to accelerate work on its flagship devices ahead of the early 2019 launch.

A report from TechnoBuffalo and citing people with knowledge of the matter corroborates information that leaked earlier this year, confirming that Galaxy S10 will come with three different models.

But it also points to more details about the camera, while also revealing that the fingerprint sensor embedded into the screen will continue to be a dream that won’t come true too son.

At first glance, it appears that Samsung wants to follow in Apple’s footsteps and release two premium models, along with a more mainstream configuration that could hit the shelves at a lower price.

Triple-camera configuration

According to the cited source, all three models will use a 12MP wide-angle lens (78-degree FOV) and a 16MP super wide-angle lens (123-degree FOV). However, the more expensive and top-of-the-range Galaxy S10 Plus will come with a triple-lens configuration with the third camera feature a 13-megapixel telephoto lens with 45-degree FOV. Dual aperture will be used on the entire lineup.

Interestingly, the report also claims that the fingerprint sensor integrated into the screen won’t be ready for the Galaxy S10, despite this particular feature said to be one of the highlights of the new generation.

The fingerprint reader will still be placed on the back, it adds, and will be available on all three models that Samsung will launch next year.

The size of the phones will also be similar to Apple’s 2018 iPhone series, with the more affordable model to come with a 6.1-inch display. The other two will be 5.8- and 6.4-inch smartphones.

Needless to say, a certain amount of skepticism is required when reading these rumors, as not only that they may not entirely accurate, but Samsung’s plans could also change in the meantime. The debut of the S10 should take place somewhere around late January – early February 2019.
