Samsung has recently launched the Galaxy S10, which is the company’s best of the best right now, but it looks like the plan for the company is to have a total of six different flagships on the market.

All devices would be powered by the Snapdragon 855, and according to a recent rumor, Samsung is now giving the finishing touches to a model that would be positioned as a flagship cheaper than the Galaxy S10e.

Twitter user @TechstarGod says the Samsung will take the wraps off the new flagship this year, and the Snapdragon 855-powered device lineup would also include folding phones.

While specifics aren’t available right now, Samsung is obviously expected to embrace a series of cost-saving measures that would help keep the price low.

Cost-saving approach

So despite the latest-generation Snapdragon chip, this phone could come with substantial downgrades in terms of storage and display. This is why it’s believed that the affordable flagship could be none other than the Galaxy A90, a model which according to the rumor mill could feature a single rotating 48-megapixel camera serving as both a selfie shooter and main camera.

Furthermore, speculation on this model indicates that Samsung wouldn’t use an OLED display, but an LCD panel, a decision that would help keep the price as low as possible.

What’s worth mentioning is that Samsung wouldn’t use an Infinity O display like on the Galaxy S10, which is typically more expensive, as the camera wouldn’t be embedded into the glass, but placed on a pop-up module. The glass on the back would be replaced by plastic to reduce costs as well.

Details as to when this model could go live aren’t available for the time being, but Samsung could announce it in the fall of this year.
