The app only supports Samsung devices for now

Samsung has released a new app for Windows 10, though this time, it’s only aimed at its very own devices, such as the Galaxy Book.

Called Quick Share, the purpose of this feature is to make it easier to share content between two Samsung devices, though worth knowing is that only specific models are supported at this point.

For example, Samsung explains that in addition to the Windows 10-powered Galaxy Book, customers can also use Quick Share with Galaxy phones and the Galaxy Tab tablet. The sharing takes place wirelessly and requires Windows 10 version 20H2 or newer.

“Quick Share is a device-to-device file sharing feature that allows you to quickly and easily transfer content saved on your Galaxy device to people nearby who have Samsung Galaxy devices (Galaxy Phone, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Book) using wireless communication technology,” Samsung explains.

Windows 10 version 20H2 or newer required to share data

The company explains that addition models might be supported in the future, but for the time being, only Galaxy Book computers can allow for sharing via this new app. This includes all variants of the Galaxy Book, including Galaxy Book Go, Galaxy Book Pro, and Galaxy Book Pro 360.

“Models to be supported and their timelines may be subject to change in accordance with the Company's policies. For smooth operation of the features, please keep Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers updated to the latest version through Windows updates or Samsung updates,” Samsung explains.

The application works as straightforward as possible. Simply select the content to share, open Quick Share and then you should see the supported devices (already paired, of course) in the popup on the screen. Just click the device you want to share with and that’s pretty much it. You can also configure certain settings, such as sharing files only with contacts or with everyone.
