Samsung is believed to be working on a FE version of the Galaxy S21, though for the time being, very little information is available.

A report from SamMobile reveals the device has model number SM-G990B, and while at first glance it could be considered an LTE version of the Galaxy S21, it’s very likely to be the FE simply because Samsung is betting big on 5G right now.

Just like the Galaxy S20 FE, this new version of the Galaxy S21 would retain the capabilities of the base model but come with a lower price, so Samsung is expected to turn to some cost-saving measures in some specific areas.

Coming in the fall?

The company explained what FE means for the future of its smartphones last year when it launched the Galaxy S20 FE:

“Samsung is committed to delivering flagship experiences to reach even more consumers and that is why we created the Galaxy S20 FE. The latest edition to the Galaxy line-up of devices, the Galaxy S20 FE is a premium flagship smartphone that includes innovations Galaxy fans told us they love most, made available at an accessible price point, starting at $699. Samsung took select features of the Galaxy S20 series, such as the super smooth scrolling display, an AI-powered camera, advanced chipset, hyper-fast connectivity, all day battery, expandable storage, with a streamlined premium design, in order to create the all-new Galaxy S20 FE,” Samsung explains.

At this point, there are no specifics as to when this new Samsung smartphone could launch, but there’s a chance it goes live in the fall, just like the Galaxy S20 FE.

Last year, Samsung launched the FE in September, so if the same approach is being used, we should be getting the new S21 at nearly the same time when Apple is projected to unveil the new iPhone 13 lineup.
