New pack of improvements available for the Galaxy S10

Samsung has just released the Galaxy S10 March 2019 software update that brings both security and non-security improvements.

The update is rolling out in stages to all three models in the Galaxy S10 lineup, namely the Galaxy S10e, the Galaxy S10, and the Galaxy S10+. However, keep in mind that availability depends on a series of factors, and the release takes place in waves, so some devices will get it sooner than later.

For now, the United Kingdom seems to be among the first markets getting the update, with other European countries likely to follow soon. Germany has also received the update, as per this reddit thread.

As for what’s new in this update, Samsung says it’s improving Wireless PowerShare, a feature that makes it possible for the Galaxy S10 to wirelessly charge other smartphones. The South Korean firm doesn’t go into any specifics regarding the changes coming to this feature, but a speed improvement would undoubtedly be welcome.

No notification light feature just yet

At the same time, Samsung says it’s improving “the stability of the camera,” though once again, no specifics were offered.

And obviously, this update increases the security patch level to March 2019, which means that the latest security patches for Android are now available for the Samsung Galaxy S10 as well.

The update size is 463.15 MB and is offered to versions G970FXXU1ASC8, G973FXXU1ASC8, and G975FXXU1ASC8.

One feature that this update doesn’t bring is support for the camera ring to double as a notification light. Expected to come in a software update, at least according to a Samsung Care Ambassador, this update has reportedly been pushed back due to a reason that wasn’t officially disclosed.

If we are to care the same ambassador, the feature is still on its way, so the only thing we can do right now is to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the company to include it in the April 2019 software update.
