Galaxy Note 10 to come with an audio dongle in the box

Apple described the removal of the headphone jack as an act of courage, and many criticized the company for ditching this super-popular feature on its devices.

And while at first this seemed like a direction that not everyone was planning to follow, it now appears that even its biggest rival is getting ready to embrace the same idea.

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Note 10 without a headphone jack, and according to a recent leak, the South Korean company will go for the same approach as long-time rival Apple.

In other words, while the Note 10 will come without a 3.5mm audio port, the device will include a dongle right in the box, so you’re not supposed to feel like you’re missing anything when trying to connect your standard headphones.

The Note 10 will feature a USB Type-C connector for charging, so the adapter will use a USB-C to 3.5mm input.

Note 10 coming next week

While this adapter will ship in the box with the Note 10, Samsung is also expected to sell it separately. As we’ve learned from Apple, such little things don’t last for ever, so we occasionally have to replace them, especially in case of hardcore use.

The adapter should retail for approximately $10, albeit this is something that Samsung will most likely confirm shortly after the debut of the Galaxy Note 10.

And speaking of the smartphone itself, Samsung will take the wraps off the new Note 10 in just a week. The launch will happen on August 7 in New York, and sales will begin in just a matter of weeks.

For now, it looks like the days of the headphone jack are long gone, as Samsung is expected to replace the popular connector with dongles on several new models launching in the coming months.
