Samsung is now giving the last-minute touches to its August 10 event when the company is expected to announce the next-generation foldable smartphones.

But at the same time, the South Koreans are also hard at work on more ambitious foldable devices, including a tablet that could see the daylight next year.

Information posted on Naver reveals that Samsung could bring its very first Android tablet with a foldable form factor to the market at some point in 2023, possibly alongside the Galaxy Tab S9.

If the timing details are correct, the Samsung could announce this ambitious device in January when the company also takes the wraps off the Galaxy S223 lineup.

Needless to say, it’s too early to discuss the specifics, but Samsung investing in a foldable tablet makes perfect sense, especially as the company has been very committed to this form factor lately.

New foldables to see daylight tomorrow

Samsung has obviously remained tight-lipped on this project, but in previous announcements, the company did suggest that more foldable devices would be launched in the coming years.

“True to our heritage of staying ahead of the curve with trailblazing mobile tech, we’ll be expanding our portfolio of foldables, so this groundbreaking category is more accessible to everyone. And while we’re already known for our revolutionary cameras, we’ll never stop trying to outdo ourselves,” Dr. TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business Samsung Electronics, said in late 2020.

Samsung’s next foldable device lineup will include the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4, both of which will be announced tomorrow and will go on sale later this month. The tablet could follow in January, and rumor has it that a more affordable foldable mobile phone could also see the daylight at some point in 2023.
