Samsung is betting big on its very own Exynos chip, but this doesn’t necessarily mean the company is ready to give up on the collaboration it has with Qualcomm.

In fact, the South Koreans are relying heavily on Snapdragon chips, and the 2022 lineup, for example, is going to bet big on the US firm’s chipsets.

According to a recent report from The Elec, Samsung will use Snapdragon hardware on no less than 31 phones going next year out of a total of 64 new launches. In other words, Samsung will use Qualcomm chips on nearly half of its entire 2022 phone lineup, while the Exynos will make its way to 20 models.

Samsung will also use MediaTek chips, though this time, they will be installed on 14 phone models.

Big bet on Snapdragon

The company is unlikely to change the approach it used in the past, and the upcoming Galaxy S22, which is due in January, will probably use both Exynos and Snapdragon chips.

The strategy will probably be similar to the previous years, so the S22 sold in Europe will come with Exynos, whereas the U.S. version will be fitted with Snapdragon.

On the other hand, the new foldable devices that will launch in the summer of 2022, including the Galaxy Z Fold4 and the Galaxy Z Flip4, will only use a Qualcomm chip, more specifically the Snapdragon 898.

Samsung is also getting ready to launch the Galaxy S21 FE, and rumor has it the unveiling would take place in January, most likely at CES. Just like its bigger brother the Galaxy S21, the Fan Edition version will come with both Exynos and Snapdragon chips. Models sold in Europe will be powered by the Exynos 2100, while the devices aimed at the American market will use a Snapdragon 888 chip.
