Company afraid the global health crisis could impact sales

Samsung is now getting ready to launch the Galaxy Note20 as part of an Unpacked event on August 5, and while the company plans to do the whole thing with much fanfare, it doesn’t mean it’s not realistic about the chances of this new model to become a hit.

And according to a new report today, Samsung itself is not super-excited about Galaxy Note20 hitting the market during this global health crisis that doesn’t seem to come to an end, so the company too expects modest sales for the new flagship.

This would be the second Samsung flagship in a row that more or less disappoints.

The Galaxy S20, for example, has pretty much failed to impress, as it launched in February at a time when the pandemic was still in its early days all over the world. The sales, on the other hand, kicked off in early March in most markets, and this was the month when the number of infected people skyrocketed all over the world.

A similar thing seems to be happening with the Galaxy Note20. With the unveiling planned for August 5, the Note20 could end up going live at a time when the second wave of the pandemic is expected to show up. The number of people confirmed with the new coronavirus keeps growing, and experts claim the trend won’t stop anytime soon.

Samsung plans to unveil the Galaxy Note20 on August 5, while sales are likely to kick off later the same month. According to the rumor mill, this could happen on August 21 for those who pre-ordered the device, but of course, this is just a guess for the time being, as the timing can change at any point.

The problem for Samsung is that it can’t push the start of sales too much, as the Galaxy Note20’s bigger rival, the new iPhone 12, is expected to go live in September.
