Samsung has a charging station for its products

Not a long time, Apple announced a product that everybody was super-excited about (sure, that’s not necessarily a surprise since we’re talking about the Apple world, but this device was really useful).

It was AirPower, a wireless charger that was supposed to let those fully committed to the Apple ecosystem to recharge all their devices at once. AirPower supported the iPhone, AirPods, and the Apple Watch, so again, it was just the perfect product for the hardcore Apple fanboy.

As everybody knows already, Apple wasn’t an early adopter of wireless charging, as the company has only recently introduced such capabilities on its mobile devices. But gradually, wireless charging has grown on Apple, and now the Cupertino-based tech giant finally understood how important the feature is for its users too.

AirPower was therefore a pretty cool device, only that Apple abandoned it along the way, eventually giving up on the project entirely. The reason was believed to be a technical issue that Apple came across while building the AirPower, and because the company didn’t want to offer a compromised experience to users, it just ditched the idea completely.

More recently, it has emerged that Apple didn’t give up on the plan of launching a wireless charging station for its devices, only that the company has now set less ambitious goals.

Until this happens, here’s Samsung, the company that does everything faster than Apple and which has truly accelerated the innovation pace in the last few years, building its very own charging station.

Called Wireless Charger Trio, the device has a purpose that’s easy to figure out by simply reading out its name. The new product can charge your smartphone, your earbuds, and your smartwatch, obviously all wearing Samsung’s logo on them, at the same time. In other words, it’s Apple’s AirPower built for Samsung’s ecosystem, with one big difference: everything works just the way it’s supposed to work, and the company is ready to bring it to the market rather sooner than later.

“With technology now working harder than ever before, Samsung also recognised a need for a new charging station that can power up more of your devices simultaneously. Wireless Charger Trio is a brand-new wireless charging solution designed to charge compatible devices all at once, offering everyday convenience and ease,” Samsung announced today.

Samsung hasn’t shared any information regarding the availability of its wireless charging station, but the company did say that it’s supposed to go live at some point in the coming months. If I were to guess, I’d say the Wireless Charger Trio would go on sale later this fall, just ahead of the holiday season for obvious reasons.

As for the price, this is good news. Samsung knows it’s important for such a product to be rather affordable, after all, the customers who are supported to purchase it have already paid hundreds of dollars on a Galaxy Watch, the earbuds, and a Galaxy phone. And by the looks of things, the wireless charging station won’t be so expensive, as it’ll hit the shelves in Europe with a 99 Euro price tag. That’s a little over $100 in the United States, albeit there’s a chance the device would go on sale in America with a $99 price tag too.

So there you go, Samsung has built the wireless charger that Apple is still dreaming about, so if you were thinking about changing the ecosystems and moving to Android, the South Koreans now have the full device package for everyone out there.
