Tipster says the Galaxy S22 will look like an iPhone 13

The fierce competition between Samsung and Apple is happening on all fronts, and as far as the design of their phones is concerned, the South Koreans have until now impressed with their focus on punch-hole cameras and fingerprint sensors embedded into the glass.

In the meantime, the Cupertino-based rival just decided to stick with the controversial notch introduced back in 2017 when the iPhone X finally got to see the daylight.

Samsung used a notch too, but only on mid-range models, as its high-end devices, such as the Galaxy S lineups, relied on more premium alternatives such as the said punch-hole cameras.

But now, it looks like the fierce design battle between the two is about to reach a new level. At least according to well-known mobile tipster Ice Universe, who revealed on Twitter that Samsung’s upcoming S22 and S22+ will look just like an iPhone 13, as “the front and rear are flat.”

No-notch “iPhone”

There’s one big difference between Samsung’s approach and Apple’s: there’s no notch on the new Galaxy S22, so at some level, the South Koreans are about to show the world that building an iPhone without a notch is totally possible.

Sure, the Galaxy S22 won’t sport the Face ID system that Apple is betting so big on and which the company points to whenever it has to explain why the horrible notch is still there on its phones.

Interestingly enough, Apple itself is also expected to kill off the notch sooner or later. The company is believed to be working on punch-hole cameras too, so the notch would eventually be removed once Apple finds a way to embed the Face ID components into the glass as well.

This won’t happen overnight, though some sources with knowledge of the matter suggested we should expect some pretty substantial notch changes on the 2022 iPhones.
