Sapphire and titanium likely to be used on the device

Samsung is one of the companies that are very committed to building smartwatches in the long term, with the Galaxy Watch currently one of the best-selling devices in this market.

And Samsung knows it can do better, especially if it wants to compete against the Apple Watch. This is why the South Koreans are planning an overhaul that will make the next Galaxy Watch more premium than ever.

Ice Universe, who has an excellent track on unreleased mobile devices, says Samsung is planning to launch a Pro model of its smartwatch, and this version is very likely to see the daylight as part of the next generation due this year.

In other words, it could be called the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, and based on Samsung’s typical release calendar, it should see the daylight at some point in August.

Material upgrade

And to make it more premium, Samsung seems ready to go for more expensive materials, such as titanium and sapphire. Of course, neither is something new in the wearable industry, as some devices have been offering such materials for quite some time, including Garmin’s smartwatches.

But for customers, this upgrade could mean the Galaxy Watch Pro might end up coming with a higher price tag. The Galaxy Watch Classic is currently priced at $350, so maybe the Pro could add another $50.

As it turns out, the Pro-branded Samsung smartwatch is unlikely to come with slim bezels, but this is probably because the company wants to use the rotating gear that’s already available on the existing models. This is a nice touch, but it remains to be seen if such an approach makes sense on a device that’s supposed to feel modern and premium on all fronts. Of course, everything is still unconfirmed, so you’d better not take this info for certain.
