Shipping could kick off in early March, it seems

The next big launch in the smartphone market is the Galaxy S23, and people familiar with the matter said on several occasions that the debut of this device would take place earlier than usual.

Samsung typically announced upgrades for the Galaxy S lineup in February, with the shipments kicking off later the same month.

This time, however, the Galaxy S23 was said to land a lot earlier. While some sources said the whole thing could happen in January, others indicated that Samsung was even considering a debut in December, just ahead of Christmas.

While from a marketing perspective a December launch doesn’t make much sense, a new report now seems to suggest that Samsung isn’t necessarily in a rush to take the wraps off the Galaxy S23.

In other words, the launch of the new model could still take place in February, as per the company’s typical release calendar.

Shipping to start in early March

The event is apparently scheduled for February 17, and at some level, this makes a lot of sense. If this is indeed the target date for the unveiling, the shipping should theoretically start in the first days of March.

The report goes on to reveal that an Exynos 2300 chip will be installed on the Galaxy S23, but on the other hand, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is also expected to power certain versions of the device. Most likely, the Qualcomm chip will be installed on the Galaxy S23 sold in the United States, whereas international markets will receive the Exynos configuration.

The Galaxy S23 isn’t otherwise expected to sport massive design changes, so the focus this year will be on under the hood upgrades.

Of course, we shouldn’t take the February 17 launch event as a certain thing for now, especially given no other reliable source has suggested this date so far.
