Samsung is getting ready to take the wraps off the Galaxy S21 during a new Unpacked event on January 14, but despite the company remaining tight-lipped on this new product, we already know pretty much everything there is to know about it.
And now a new leak confirms the speculated launch date of the Galaxy S21, with Roland Quandt of WinFuture revealing on Twitter the device is projected to go on sale in Europe on January 29.
Most likely, Samsung will begin taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S21 shortly after the Unpacked event, so January 29 is the date when customers would actually get their hands on the smartphone.
Improved features, first step towards the demise of the Galaxy Note
While the release of the Galaxy S21 itself is big news, one very important tidbit concerns an upgrade planned for the Ultra model.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra will be the first Galaxy S model to come with support for the Samsung S Pen, a feature that has until now been exclusive to the Note series.
In case you’re wondering why the South Koreans bring it to the Galaxy S21, it’s because the long-term goal is to discontinue the Note model completely. So upgrade the Galaxy S21 Ultra with S Pen support is something that would make the transition as smoothly as possible, though for now, it looks like the device wouldn’t come with a dedicated slot for the stylus like the Note.
Instead, Samsung will sell a dedicated case with a special place for the S Pen, though this could obviously change in the long term depending on how the market responds to this switch.
The last Note is projected to see the daylight in the summer, after which the device could be completely killed off.
