Samsung embraced a different approach for the new Galaxy S21, and instead of unveiling the smartphone in February, it took the wraps off the refreshed model in January, thus giving it more time on the market.

And at some level, this seems to be paying off, as the Galaxy S21 is selling three times better than the S20 in the United States.

This is according to Strategy Analytics numbers cited by SamMobile, though the more impressive bit is that the Ultra accounts for over 40 percent of all sales in the United States. In other words, nearly 1 in 2 Galaxy S21 phones purchased by American users is the Ultra, which isn’t only the most feature-packed device, but also the most expensive.

S Pen support

The Galaxy S21 Ultra comes with several exclusive features, and probably the most notable is the addition of S Pen support.

Exclusive to the Galaxy Note series until this year, the S Pen allows users to write and draw on the screen in a more natural manner. Its arrival on the Galaxy S21 was seen by many as an indication that Samsung is planning to kill off the entire Note series, though the company has recently confirmed that this lineup of devices is here to stay, possibly with a 2021 model to be skipped altogether.

In the meantime, the Galaxy S21 remains a hot seller, and Samsung is obviously trying to the most out of this strong demand for its new flagship.

The company is believed to be working on a Galaxy S21 FE already, with the launch to take place later this year, possibly in September. Of course, everything could change overnight, but at the first glance, the Galaxy S21 is just what the doctor ordered for the South Korean company.
