Report claims the unveiling could happen in January

Now that the iPhone 12 is finally here, the next big unveiling to happen in the smartphone market is the Samsung Galaxy S21.

As per Samsung’s typical release calendar, the S21 should see daylight in February, while the sale should then kick off in March. This is exactly the timing that the South Korean company has previously used for the Galaxy S20 as well, and it makes sense to see it being used for the S21 as well.

But according to a report from Korean media and citing the supply chain, Samsung is planning a major change for the Galaxy S21 and it wants the device to go live earlier than anticipated. In other words, this could mean that the S21 could be announced in January, a month earlier than originally planned.

S Pen support on the next Galaxy S

The reason for this change of mind isn’t difficult to figure out. The Galaxy S20 hasn’t necessarily been a hit, mostly because of the global health crisis, and now Samsung is in a hurry to bring its successor to the market and maintain its market share.

The iPhone 12 doesn’t land during better times either, but Samsung wants to remain relevant in the flagship battle with a fresh model that would fully focus on 5G connectivity and possibly lots of new features. For example, it’s believed the Galaxy S21 could come with S Pen support, though according to people close to the matter, the device is unlikely to come with a stylus.

But on the other hand, if you want to buy one separately and use it with a Galaxy S21, that’ll be just fine.

Of course, everything here should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism, as Samsung has remained completely tight-lipped on all details about its upcoming Galaxy S smartphone.
